SYMPOSIUM 2003
LEADERS OF TOMORROW

DATE: Tuesday, October 7, 2003
PLACE: Room 200, West Block, Parliament Hill,
Ottawa
The 2003 Annual PAGSE Meeting provided a unique opportunity
for federal politicians, as well as departmental, agency and
private sector representatives, to meet and talk to outstanding
young researchers about their work. These “Leaders of
Tomorrow” have already contributed significantly to
Canadian leadership in science and engineering, social sciences,
medicine and innovation and their achievements span a range
of fields important to Canada's competitiveness, scientific
and technological vigour, and economic strength. Round table
discussions during the day provided an opportunity for the
“Leaders of Tomorrow” to discuss S&T policy
with PAGSE and Federal Granting Agency representatives and
to compare experiences with each other. At the closing reception
on Parliament Hill, four of the scientists gave brief descriptions
of their work, highlighting its importance and potential impact
on Canada's future.
